Image of Babylon

Mixed media on wood, 24” x 36”

I find myself astounded by the landscapes of the world and all the life they contain. The art of consciousness is so captivating. As artists we strive to replicate and morph this creation with our own. As scientists we search to understand it. Watching all the stories of our Earth, I can’t help but notice the way that everything grows to blend into and enhance each other even as many beings fight to survive often at the expense of each other. I see humans that way too. We are all mesmerizing, beautiful extensions of the art of consciousness. Our skin is testament to that. And so with this piece, Babylon, I’m presenting a sort of philosophical, metaphorical question: when we lost the one language of the world as we were trying to reach the moon and were divided to speak in numerous, beautiful languages, did we also lose the capacity to see our skin as beautiful? Is this when the divisiveness that has marked humanity through tour short history began? This painting is both a recognition of all the forms of trauma stemming from the divisiveness present in our world as well as a hope for what else can exist. It’s a celebration of our skin and our physical form as the art of consciousness, a hope that we will all continue to connect to the greater consciousness in all of us to build a more vibrant, peaceful, and compassionate world, and a thank you to all the healers in all their forms.
